Cool Runnings wins Mash domino contest

‘Cool Runnings’ were crowned as the champions of the annual Mashramani Domino Competition for persons with disabilities in Region #2 on Sunday.

The competition was sponsored by the National Sports Commission (NSC) and was contested at the Community Based Rehabilitation Centre in Queenstown on the Essequibo Coast.

Three of the five teams emerged from the preliminary rounds to play in the finals. They were Hot Shots, Hot Spot and Cool Runnings.

Captain of the victorious team was Gavin Jeffers, Seedat Ketwaroo    led the Hot Spot team and Ronald Sugrim captained the Hot Shots.

Cool Runnings won a total of 36 games to overthrow last year’s finalist Hot Spot, they finished as the runner up with 25 games while Hot Shots followed in third with 23 games.

The top scorer of the day was Matura Jagnauth of Cool Runnings who won 15 games.  He also executed the only double love.

Wilton Spencer presented the prizes and trophies to the winners on behalf of the NSC, Jagnauth received two ups, one each for top scorer and executioner of the first love.
