Le Ressouvenir Tennis Club ready to serve

The Guyana Lawn Tennis Association (GLTA) officially launched the Le Ressouvenir Lawn Tennis Club on Wednesday evening at the Club’s court at Le Ressouvenir.

Present at the launching was President of the GLTA, Christopher Ram and committee members of the club, among others.

Addressing the gathering Ram expressed the club’s intent to drive tennis into becoming a popular sport in Guyana by making tennis available and getting coaching for youths in the surrounding areas. Further, three to four clubs are expected to be opened over the next several months.

Newly-elected president of the club and treasurer of GLTA, Anita Rampersaud-Sawh accepted the honour and thanked members of the committee for supporting the launching.

Sawh made these comments after an election was held at the launching.

Shameela Shamshudin was elected Treasurer, while Irzad Zamal is the Secretary.

The Le Ressouvenir Tennis Court is open to all members of the club. Membership of the club costs $10,000 per person and $15,000 per family. The special rate for children is $3,000. Other requirements for membership are identification and proof of address.

Members of the public are encouraged to join.
