Batting woes continue for Bravo, Pollard in IPL

Bravo got just two and Pollard, five, as Mumbai tumbled to 141 for nine off 20 overs in pursuit of the hosts’ 164 for four from their allotted overs after winning the toss at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Sachin Tendulkar slam-med the top score of 45 from 35 balls with six fours in the sweltering heat which forced him to retire at one point but other than Harbhajan Singh’s cameo 33 from 23 balls late in the order, no other batsmen showed enterprise.

The right-handed Tendulkar shared 46 from 37 balls for the first wicket with Shikhar Dhawan (16) but wickets tumbled regularly to leave Mumbai with only their second loss of the series.

Bravo fell to a lofted drive at long off in the 11th over off Thilan Thushara with the score on 69 for three and Pollard failed to produce any fireworks, facing six balls before holing out in the deep at 86 for five in the 13th over.

Earlier, he took two for 27 from four overs while Bravo went wicket-less in two overs that cost 21 runs as Australian batsman Matthew Hayden top scored with 35 from 31 balls for Chennai.
