Yesterday boxers inked their contracts and southpaw Iwan ‘Pure Gold’ Azore and Troy Lewis, with his orthodox stance, will be headlining the night’s proceedings in the junior middleweight division.

Azore, Guyana’s welterweight champion, will be looking to put out a sterling performance against his opponent, who has only won two of his 12 fights.

Azore, who fights mostly out of Trinidad & Tobago last fought in Guyana in January when he boxed his way to a unanimous decision victory over Laurex Benn.

While Lewis, after his debut win against Rockford Abrams in August 1999, did not win another fight until he defeated  Eversley Brown on the occasion of the second edition of the Pro Am card.

In the other three professional fights Shawn Pile will be taking on boxing’s punching bag Orlan ‘Pocket Rocket’ Rogers in a four-round catchweight encounter, while Brown will be looking to redeem himself against Joel Mc Rae in the middleweight division during four rounds of fistic action.

The main supporting bout in the professional ranks will see Sharon Warde putting everything on the line against Veronica Blackman in the light heavyweight division over four rounds.

Meanwhile, in the four amateur bouts, the heartbeat of the Pro Am initiative, fans will see newly-affiliated member gym New Bauxite Bomber’s Troy Billey taking on Ricola Warriors’ Dexter Wray in the junior flyweight  class.

Laurel Stewart of the Forgotten Youth Foundation (FYF) will trade punches with George Anthony of the Port Kaituma Boxing Gym.

Guyana Defence Force junior welterweight boxer Bert Braithwaite will challenge Akeem Alexander of New Bauxite Bombers of Rose Hall and Devon Boatswain of the  GDF will be touching gloves with Dennis Thomas of Harpy Eagles gym.
