Halley in a class of her own

Ian Rogers was bang on target while female shooter Pertonella Halley proved that she was in a class by herself when the Guyana National Rifle Association (GNRA) Handgun Section staged its two-day monthly shooting competition last weekend.

The two newcomers stamped their authority against much seasoned shooters in weekend action.
Rogers won Sunday’s IPSC style competition at the Timehri ranges with speed and accurate shooting through all three stages beating into second position Ryan McKinnon while Joseph Chin was third.

He also placed second in the .22 precision shoot last Saturday at Eve Leary ranges which was won by Chin with Dr. Johan Da Silva taking third spot.

Halley, who was promoted to the senior division following her dominance in last month’s junior competition finished fourth overall in Saturday’s target shoot.

Meanwhile, teams are gearing up for the Invitational Security Forces competition slated for June 27th at the Timehri ranges.

The competition sponsored by Modern Optical will feature the Guyana Police Force, Guyana Defence Force, Presidential Guards, Bank of Guyana Security and GNRA Hand gun section.

The GNRA side has consistently been the favored team but the security forces have made great strides and could pose a serious treat to the pre-tournament favourites.
