Courts Guyana and Ansa McAl get on board ‘Deadly Encounters’

Both Courts Guyana Inc. and Ansa McAl have jumped on board the upcoming ‘Deadly Encounters’ championship boxing event as co-sponsors.

You can take that to the bank! Courts Country Manager Lester Alves presents the cheque to promoter Seon Bristol. The two businesses yesterday solidified their positions as co-sponsors for the event when they handed over cheques to the promoters of the event, Bris “O” Promotions under the management of Seon Bristol.

Public Relations Officer  of Courts Guyana Inc, Pernell Cummings, presented a generous $500,000 cheque to Bristol at their business premises in expression of the company’s support.

Though the company has supported several other sporting disciplines, Country Manager Lester Alves acknowledged that support in boxing was  a fairly new venture for the company, but he assured that this was only the beginning of the  company’s collaboration with the sport.

The company last year had sponsored the fight between Shondell Alfred and Corrine Van Ryck De Groot when they fought for the Women’s International Boxing Association’s (WIBA) Bantamweight title.  Alfred was the victor.

Subsequently, at Ansa Mc Al, Marketing Director Troy Cadogan handed over a cheque of a substantial but undisclosed amount in their support of the event.

Cadogan said that in light of the tough nature of the sport, the company was using the opportunity to promote their Stag Beer, one of the many products distributed by the company.

“Stag is a fighter’s beer and we would like to associate this product with the fight,” Cadogan declared.

Bristol expressed gratitude to both sponsors for their welcomed support of the event.

‘Deadly Encounters’  is carded for tomorrow night at the Princess International Hotel with the feature fight between Hector “Macho” Camacho Jr. and Guyana’s ‘Deadly’ Denny Dalton, contending for the vacant World Boxing Federation Intercontinental middleweight title.

Other zesty co-features will include the re-match between Alfred and De Groot for the bantamweight title, a showdown with Gwendolyn O’Neil and Veronica Blackman for the WIBA heavyweight title, and a re-match of Guyana’s Elton “The Real Collie Bully” Dharry and Orlando ‘Rocket Boy’ Rogers.
