Clubs should move no confidence motion in IMC

Sports Editor,
Dear Sir,

The installation of an Interim Management Committee  (IMC) at the behest of the General Council of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) to chart the way forward for football in Georgetown following the dissolution of the Georgetown football Association (GFA) executive earlier this year has failed miserably.

From the outset the timeframe of three months for regularizing clubs; completing the affiliation and registration process;amending the constitution and most importantly, organizing competitions was way too short.

In the face of the subsequent failure to achieve its objectives an additional two-month period was granted, which is steadfastly approaching with no significant achievement!

It would seem as if the four man IMC consisting of chairman, Gordon Gilhuys, Odinga Lumumba, Major Burnett and Adepemo Peters have been too hard-pressed with other duties to meet the objectives as set out by the GFF General Council.

With some six-and-one-half months already elapsing and most importantly in a Senior World Cup year, why is it not one single competition has been organized by the IMC?

In addition there has been the non-convening of a General Council Meeting as stipulated by the constitution.

One wonders whether the senior clubs are just going to sit idly by and allow this high level of inefficiency and ineptitude to prevail rather than to utilize the vested constitutional powers by six senior clubs to summon an emergency General Council Meeting, and deal with the business first hand, which is a vote of no confidence.

From all indications the GFF executive have already abandoned the IMC but would still love to have maximum control of football in Georgetown.

Yours truly,
Orin Davis.
