The second practice match between the national under-19 team and a Rest Team XI at Eve Leary ground was washed out by early morning rains after the first day.
When Stabroek Sport visited the venue the outfield was inundated. Manager of the team Alvin Johnson said that the warm-up match will be shelved but the team will be looking to have some practice sessions at the same venue on Thursday afternoon.
The three-day match would have been the team’s final match before departing Guyana for St. Lucia on July 6 to contest the Trinidad Cement Limited (TCL) three-day and limited overs tournament.
Johnson also noted that the management wanted to see the team in action before the tournament and before it breaks camp on July 2. He pointed out that they will reconvene camp at the Chetram Singh Centre of Excellence at La Bonne Intention (LBI) on July 5 before the team departs on Tuesday morning.
