CONCACAF withdraws from organization of CAC Games

NEW YORK  – The confederation of North, Central America and the Caribbean (CONCACAF) yesterday announced that it has decided to withdraw its support from the men’s and women’s soccer competitions in the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games in Puerto Rico due to a lack of suitable facilities.
A release from CONCACAF stated that “after review and analysis of commissioned inspection reports it was decided that the facilities and conditions of the tournament to be held in Mayaguez do not meet the minimum standards required to conduct an international tournament.”

CONCACAF said it will therefore not assist in the organization of the event by sending staff and match officials.
