Mobile telephone company Digicel has sponsored the three-year-old race for horses bred in Guyana and the West Indies while the furniture and appliances dealer is supporting the F & Lower race.

Lucky Dollar presented Justice Cecil Kennard with a cheque for $300,000 while Digicel gave $270,000.

Digicel representative Dwayne Scott noted that the company is pleased to be associated with the event. In addressing the organisers Scott told Kennard that the company will be lending its support in future and he also wished them success on race day. Over at the Lucky Dollar Chain, Manager Lyndon Gomes said that the company is always proud to be associated with “community-based activities.”

especially since there is a fast track and many of the country’s top horses will be participating. Further, Kennard is hoping that there is good weather so that turfites can enjoy the day’s activities.

He noted that some of the top three-year-old horses are Zelona, Sabrina’s Joy, Princess, Celebration Time, Peaceful, Five Star General, Gabriel’s Gold, and Sky Is the Limit. He acknowledged that since these horses ran  at the last two horse race meets, they should be recuperated for the upcoming meet.
