The tournament, which starts on Thursday and ends Sunday will take place at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH) will see participation from over 200 Karatekas from 12 countries.

GT&T’s Director of Marketing and Sales, Wystan Robertson, in making the presentation yesterday, stated that the Company was happy to partner with the GKC on the upcoming tournament as it presents an ideal platform for the entity to align itself with assistance to youth development.

Robertson further said that the Company is always keen to align itself with activities that help to further the development of young people in society and which can assist with their grooming and progression.

He urged them to emulate the success of the local rugby team that the Company has also been supporting through sponsorship.

Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, Shaun McGrath, thanked the telephone Company for partnering with the GKC as it seeks to meet its targets to achieve a successful hosting of the Championships.

McGrath further acknowledged that the relationship augurs well for the building of a long term relationship between the parties for the continued development of the sport locally.

According to the LOC Chair, the local team which comprises some 70-members have been engaged in rigorous training, and he is confident that they will do both the Company and country proud at the games.

He describeed the progression of the team as “Getting better all the time” which happened to be a slogan of the sponsor.
