Supligen pumps over $600,000 into GNDF Dominoes competition

Supligen through its distributors M. Beepat and Sons on Tuesday announced their sponsorships of the second annual Guyana National Dominoes Federation (GNDF) national dominoes tournament in the company’s boardroom.

At Tuesday’s official launching were president of the GNDF, Robert Williams, Beepat’s Chief Executive Officer, Jonathan Beepat, Vice President of the Guyana Olympic Association, Charles Corbin, and Nestle Brand Manager Selwyn Bobb.

The is the second year Supligen has been supporting the GNDF tournament and this year the brand has pumped over $600,000 into the annual dominoes competition which began yesterday.

William’s noted at the launching that the GNDF is “extremely grateful’ to be associated once again with the Supligen brand for the hosting of the tournament.

Bobb, who revealed Supligen’s new tag-line ‘Generate your edge,’ urged those partaking in the tournament to do just that as they endeavour to come out on top.

“This is our effort to better the lives of our consumers, to allow them to have some amount of fun and reward them for it… We will continue to remain committed to sponsor dominoes competition in Guyana,” Bobb emphasized.

This year’s tournament has seen an increase in participation from players and areas where different legs of the competition will be held.

Beepat said that his company was never reluctant to partner with the GNDF as development in the event is evident.

“The increase shows development in the activity of itself so we will continue to support,” he assured.

The GNDF has joined forces with the International Domino Federation (IDF) as they aim to make dominoes an Olympic Sport.

In light of this, Corbin congratulated the GNDF for the efforts being made to push the sport.

“The Olympic association in Guyana will provide the kind of support that is necessary,” Corbin said in relation to the GNDF’s bid to make dominoes an Olympic event.

The tournament will be contested countrywide in various regions with over 200 teams vying for the $200,000 first prize.

The runner up will receive $125,000, while the team placing third will be awarded $100,000. Prizes of $10,000 and six cans of Supligen will also be presented to the Most Valuable Player of the finals and Zone winners.
