WORCESTER, England, (Reuters) – Zulqarnain Haider,  one of Pakistan’s few successes in the test defeat to England  last week, has a chipped finger and will see a specialist on Tuesday to see if he can play again in the series.
Wicketkeeper Zulqarnain, 24, was handed a test debut for the second  test at Edgbaston and made a fighting 88 — the highest score in  the match — after a first ball duck in the first innings.

He also dropped three catches.

“I have arranged for a specialist in London to look at the little finger on his right hand as he has a chip in it,” Pakistan manager Yawar Saeed told Reuters yesterday.

“He will be seen on Tuesday so we will know then if he can  play any more in this series. He cracked the finger during practice at Leeds last month. With all the strain on the finger as we know happens with keepers, it is hurting him.”

Pakistan, 2-0 down in the four-match series, start the third test against England on Wednesday at The Oval.

They are currently playing a two-day practice match against  Worcestershire. Zulqarnain is not involved in the game but the man whose place he claimed, Kamran Akmal, is playing.
