Two Guyanese footballers called for trials with English pro club

Two Guyanese footballers Ricky Shakes and Jason Lloyd have been called up by English League 2 Team Stockport County for an official trial starting today.

This was disclosed by FIFA licensed football agent Guyanese Faizal Khan.

Khan yesterday told Stabroek Sport that Lloyd, whose father is the legendary former West Indies cricket captain Clive Lloyd and Shakes, whose father is a Guyanese by birth, will officially begin a trial period today. According to Khan, Stockport County as well as a host of other Pro clubs had scouts at the recent historic football encounter between Guyana’s Golden Jaguars and Cray Wanderers football team which was won by Cray Wanderers on penalty kicks.

He also told Stabroek Sport that Stockport and a few other clubs had called for JP Rodrigues to come in.

However Rodrigues, who led the Golden Jaguars in the match against Cray Wanderers is still a contracted players at Miami FC and unless a transfer fee is paid the player is prohibited to train with another club.
