We have to move on

Dear Editor,

I have been saying for some time now, many Guyanese have had their minds twisted and corrupted by the hate inspired by the PPP for Burnham. The PPP by peddling hatred, has become a reproach to Guyana.

I lived in Burnham’s time, went with my father to cut cane on one of the estates, lined up at GNTC on Regent street for milk and whatever else, drank sugar water with bare bread when it was there, ate cornmeal without milk, ate rice flour bread, rice balls, waited for two weeks to get my dislocated arm attended to at the Georgetown Hospital in 1980, and suffered just about everything everyone in that time went through. But look at me. I don’t hate Burnham or the PNC. I understand that Burnham was caught in the global politics of the time, and wasn’t the best at economics as still many of the world’s leaders aren’t. It was a tragic mistake and a very bad episode in the lives of Guyanese at the time and there is nothing that can be done about it.

We have to move on. Guyana has to move on.

The PPP is content to feed whoever will listen with their rubbish. And that doesn’t cut it. The APNU and AFC are committed to nation-building and recovering lost ground. All Guyanese are encouraged to get on board and play their part in taking this country forward together.

And leave the PPP alone. The have sucked at our children’s lives enough.

Yours faithfully,

Craig Sylvester
