The presentation was made by Marketing Manager of GKRS, Natheeah King to national male and female basketball players respectively, Andrew Ifill and Natasha Alder, who accepted the contribution on behalf of the GABF. The $165,000 donation to the GABF was utilized to provide uniforms for both male and female national basketball teams that are currently participating in the Godwin McPherson Memorial Tournament, which began Thursday night at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

King, who spoke briefly at the simple presentation ceremony, emphasized that supporting sports is a part of the company’s mandate because they firmly believe in the development of youth through sports. “We know that nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm and determination. To boost those qualities there must be support and we feel compelled to give that support because a tournament such as this will do a lot to develop basketball in Guyana,” King said.

King also welcomed the visiting DC Jammers team and extended best wishes to the national team and the visitors as they compete for the Memorial Championship trophy.

In addition, King noted that she expects a disciplined performance from the national team and urged them to “make us proud.”
