Banks DIH supports Differently-able Athletics Club Fitness Walk

Local beverage giant Banks DIH Limited has extended support to the 12th Annual Differently-able Athletics Club two-mile Fitness Walk set for tomorrow from the Two Brother’s Gas Station to Mocha Village,  East Bank Demerara.

The company presented Aqua Mist Water to the organisers at a simple ceremony on Thursday at its Special Events Department on Durban Street.

“We are once again pleased to be associated with this fitness walk because it is always very well organized and we are confident that a wide cross-section of Guyanese will participate again this year,” Special Events Manager, Mortimer Stewart, said as he explained why his company was supporting the event.

The fitness walk is organised and coordinated by amputee walker William “The Conqueror” France.

France said that over 100 walkers are expected to take part and once again he has extended an invitation to Prime Minister Samuel Hinds, Director of Sport, Neil Kumar and Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Sport, Steve Ninvalle, who are regular participants at the event.

According to France prizes will be awarded in the following categories: male and female open, male and female over-50, youngest male and female, as well as male and female with disability.

France said the race will also be used as a warm-up for him and three other athletes who will be attending the Terry Fox Run in Canada next month.

The other participants will be Dennis Burns (amputee), Indy Ramnauth and Yvonne De Abreu (wheelchair).

Starting time tomorrow is 06:00 hours.
