Kishum Bacchus won last Saturday’s Stableford Club tournament played at the Lusignan Golf course as players begin preparation for the Guyana Open billed for the end of November.

Bacchus recorded 41 points to get the better of Jerome Khan who scored 39 points.

The ever-consistent Mike Mangal recorded 38 points to secure the third place.

Khan, who has returned to competition recently after  injury, also captured the Nearest to the Pin prize.

The golfers have a busy schedule over the next two months leading up to the Guyana Open and the RBTT Suriname Open in the neighbouring republic next month.

Already 13 players have registered to travel to Paramaribo for the championships which was originally scheduled for last month but was rescheduled due to the recent inclement weather

According to officials of the Lusignan Golf Club, the sponsors lined up for weekend tournaments include Akbar Auto Sales, Farm Supplies/Doosan, Vish’s Trading, Sanjay’s Jewellery, Citizen’s Bank and Digicel.

Local beverage giants Banks DIH Ltd. will sponsor this year’s Guyana Open championships.

Several golfers from the United States, Canada and Suriname have already expressed interest in participating in the Lusignan Golf Club’s premier calendar event.
