With a major improvement in the weather pattern the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) will restart its competitions beginning with the 2010 Tenelec, first-division, limited overs tournament on Sunday.
The tournament, which is sponsored by Bobby Deonarine and Tom Gruentzel of Tenelec Inc. in Washington, USA, will be used by the BCB’s senior selection committee to identify suitable players for the upcoming Inter-county one day tournament.
With nine of the county’s top players in South Africa representing Guyana and two in Barbados at the West Indies Cricket academy, the younger generation of players will be given a huge opportunity to make an impression on the selectors in an effort to gain selection.
The BCB has divided all 12 of the county’s first division teams into two zones for the competition and all matches will begin at 09:30hrs.
The Fixtures for Sunday are:
Zone A:Blairmont Community Centre vs West Berbice at Blairmont; Young Warriors vs Edinburgh at Cumberland; Police Sports Club vs Bermine Cricket Club at Edinburgh.
Zone B: Albion Community Centre vs Port Mourant Karibee Rice Cricket Club at Albion; Scottsburg united vs Skeldon Community Centre at Scottsburg; Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets vs Rose Hall, Canje at Area “H”.
