Emanie wins annual inter-club tournament

Emanie Netball Club (ENC) emerged winners of the Guyana Netball Association’s annual inter-club, three-day senior tournament which ended on Sunday at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue.

The club, which scored a massive win against Eagles Netball Club on Sunday, ended with 10 points while Rim Rockerz Netball Club, with eight points, placed  second; All Stars Netball Club, third and Fearless Flyers, fourth.

Eagles Netball Club ended in fifth position with only two points.
In the penultimate game of the tournament Sunday, ENC thrashed Eagles 56 – 6 with Angeline Mc Carthy pouring in a whopping 53 points from 78 goal attempts.

In contrast, Eagles’ goal shooter, Candacy Ramlochand, struggled her way to two points from seven attempts while goal attack Shavanna Williams managed the score the other four points.

Emanie’s goal-attack, Renea Anderson, contributed the team’s other three points from nine goal attempts.

Emanie had opened the tournament with a stylish 44 – 12 win over Rim Rockerz on Friday and added victories over All Stars and Fearless Flyers, 45 – 11 on Saturday.

Rim Rockerz locked down the second place with a final 35 – 22 win against All Stars after defeating Fearless Flyers and Eagles on Saturday.

All Stars defeated Fearless Flyers and Eagles to end with six points while Fearless Flyers ended on four points with their win against Eagles and a walk over from Doves Netball Club of Berbice which failed to show up giving all the competing teams an additional two points.
