The Ravens have been on top of their game in the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) Division Three and Open leagues which are currently in their final stages at the Burnham Court.
The Ravens convincingly captured the number one spot in the tournament’s Open league when they thrashed the Eagles 98-47 in the lone game that was contested on Wednesday evening.
With that blowout win, the Ravens wrapped up their Open League run with an undefeated record, having accumulated eight consecutive wins since the beginning of the league.
In the final Open clash on the competition schedule, the Eagles were completely outclassed by the Ravens, as they have been with all their other opponents since the leagues were restarted.
While the Ravens continue to brush their opponents aside, the Eagles since the continuation of the league, have lost all their games in the Open Division, first bowing to East/West Fire, then Pacesetters prior to Wednesday night’s defeat.
From jump-ball, it was all Ravens, who raced to an early 10-point lead by the end of the opening quarter (26-16).
The Ravens were on target to total an elusive 100 points against their opponents, a figure many other clubs have failed to reach throughout the league.
Nearing the close of the third quarter, the Ravens were blazing 20 points ahead, but were nowhere near the climax of their scoring and were in no way threatened by less challenging opponents.
Through players such as Dwayne Roberts and Ryan Gullen, the Ravens netted their largest total of the four quarters in the final period, a massive 34 points, which took them within two points of the 100-point mark, leaving the Eagles trailing by 51 points.
Roberts and Gullen scored 18 points each for the Ravens, while Yusuf Edgill contributed 17.
Lindon Smith and Mark Wills were the leading scorers in the Eagles line-up with 13 and 11 points respectively.
The Ravens will now have their sights on beating out their three challengers in GABA’s Pepsi Street Playoff Series which is scheduled to jump off on September 25.
The Ravens will be going up against the Pacesetters, Scorpions and Macabees, which round off the top four teams that will be progressing to the Playoff series.
