In previous races at the National Park, Persaud has consistently dished out performances which landed him among the top finishers.

On Saturday he brought something extra to the meet and devoured the 10-year-old National Park record of one hour 19 minutes and 21 seconds (1:19:21) by slashing over a minute off the long standing previous best.

Persaud clocked a new record time of one hour 16 minutes and 57 seconds (1:17:57) to become the new holder of the National Parks’ inner circuit record.

Trailing Persaud across the finish line were Cleon Melville and Kennard Lovell respectively.

Lovell, though placing third, carted off six of the eight prime prizes on offer with Melville and Andrew Spencer claiming the remaining two prime prizes.

Walter Grant-Stuart, Mark Lewis and Enzo Matthews rounded out the top six prize winning positions, finishing fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.
