Greaves win feature event at GCF/Cecil Anderson Memorial race

Alonso Greaves was the winner of the Open 15-lap event of the Guyana Cycling Federation’s inaugural Cecil Anderson Memorial Cycle road race held Sunday morning around the outer circuit of the National Park.

Greaves also rode away with one sprint prize in the feature event which was sponsored by Monty Davis of New York.

Robin Persaud, fresh from his National park record breaking win on Saturday was second while Ryan Austin snatched third place.

Persaud also won two prime prizes.
Orville Hinds and Eric Sankar finished fourth and fifth respectively and captured one sprint prize each, while Ian Jackson rounded out the top six finishers in the feature event.

The Jiffi Lubes-sponsored junior five-lap race was won by Christopher Holder with Rastaf Oselmo and Paul DeNobrega second and third respectively while the veteran’s Open four-lap race, which was sponsored by Ray’s Auto Spares, saw Junior Niles beating Kennard Lovell and Ian Jackson in that order.

Shaquel Agard won the Marcus Fiedtkou sponsored BMX Open three-lap race, leaving Adrian Sharma and Randy Haynes in second and third place respectively while Jude Bentley took the top prize in the Upright three-lap race as he out-pedaled second place finisher Richard Charles, who was followed by Ozia Mcually.
