Keon Joseph bags five wickets in five balls

West Indies under-19 pacer Keon Joseph conjured up a remarkable feat when he captured five wickets in five balls as the 2010 Berbice Cricket Board (BCB)/Tenelec Inc.  first division, limited-overs competition continued over the weekend in Berbice
At the Cumberland ground on Sunday Joseph spearheaded West Berbice to a 92-run defeat of Bermine.

Batting first West Berbice, led by skipper Krisendat Ramoo’s 52, Kwesi Mentore’s 27 and Steffon Adams’s 22.  reached 176 all out in 44 overs.

Left arm spinner Troy Mickle had miserly figures of 6-26 and Romario De Jonge 2-16 for Bermine, who in reply were blown away for a meager 86 in 20 overs with Joseph bagging 5-21 and Ramoo 3-14.

The La Fleur brothers, Joemal (30) and Eugene (10) were the only batsmen to reach double figures.
In other results on Sunday, Scottsburg United gave a walk over while two the Blairmont versus Edinburgh and Port Mourant versus Skeldon matches were not played due to activities at the designated grounds.

At the Area H ground, RHTG&G recorded its third successive victory, a four- wicket win over arch rival Albion.
Albion were dismissed for 148 in 33 overs with Harrinarine Chattergoon and Ranga Latchana scoring 45 and 32 respectively.

Leg spinner Shawn Perreira took 4-37 (10) while Troy Mathieson grabbed 2-31.
RHTG&G in reply, reached 149-6 in 46.2 overs; Eon Hooper scored 60, Renwick Batson 37 and Delbert Hicks 15.
Latchana took 2-28 and Veerasammy Permaul 1-8.

At the Edinburgh ground, Anil Beharry rolled back the years with an aggressive 38-ball 77 not out, which included nine fours and four sixes to lead Young Warriors to a massive 142-run victory over Police.

Young Warriors reached 176-8 off 44 overs while Police replied with 134 in 27 overs with Rocky Hutson, 34, and Albert Sinclair, 29, the chief contributors.

Off spinner Farouk Hussain took 6-25 and left arm pacer Devindra Ramoutar 2-38 for the winners.
At the Edingburgh ground on Saturday, Bermine rattled up an imposing 306-6 in their 50 overs with Eugene La Fleur stroking 116, Romario De Jonge 63, Kelvin Leitch 52 not out and Jeomal la Fleur 30.

Riad Ally captured 2-36. In reply, Edinburg fell for 151 in 35.2 overs with Denny David, 24 and Chris Yadram, 21, the principal scorers.

Troy Mickle had a field day with 4-30 while Eugene La Fleur assisted with 2-16, Trishan Harry 2-29 and Jeomal La Fleur 2-38. At Port Mourant, the home team crushed Scottsburg United by nine wickets. Scottsburg United were dismissed for 82 in 24 overs with Anthony Bramble (36) and Mark Lionel (16) reaching double figures.
Shameer Khan grabbed 4-33.

In reply, Port Mourant reached 83-1 in eight overs with Moshin Perkhan making 53 not out and Mahendra Veerasammy 23, the pair adding 81 for the first wicket.

At the Cumberland ground, 14-year-old Shimron Hetmyer stroked an attractive, unbeaten 70 to lead Young Warriors to a comprehensive eight-wicket victory over Blairmont. Blairmont made 129 in 36.4 overs with M. Ally scoring 40. Off-spinner Kevin Ramdeen captured 5-4. Young Warriors reached 130-2 off 17.2 overs.

Home team RHTG&G had to dig deep for victory against a spirited Skeldon Community Centre at the Area H ground. Parmanand Narine blasted a stroke-filled 65, supported by Gavin Nauth’s 30.  Perreira captured 3-38.

Clinton Pestano helped RHTG&G to a five-wicket victory with a responsible 70 as his team ended on 180-5 in 26 overs.
Defending champions Albion Community Centre easily disposed of the hapless Rose Hall Community Centre by six wickets at Albion. The visitors struggled to 114-9 off 50 with Orvin Mangru taking 3-30 and S. Dwarka 2-14.
Batting for Rose Hall, Canje, Sadanand Mohabir scored 35 not out while Dinesh Raneshant made 16.
Ranga Lachigadoo Latchana, 35 not out, and Chattergoon (28) led Albion to 117-4 in 22.
