Young Achievers volleyball `True Champions’

The Young Achievers volleyball team delivered a dominating performance to win the final of the True Champions Volleyball Tournament which ended on Saturday night, at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

The Young Achievers bagged the $80,000 first prize and the winning trophy after they convincingly defeated Castrol Strikers in all three formats contested for the final.

Young Achievers’ key player Randy Adams and teammates Christopher Ramsundar and Khemraj Singh took four of the five individual prizes on offer.

In the final, Achievers romped to an easy victory in the 2’s format, winning 30-24, while they easily defeated their rivals 21-18, 21-13 in the 4’s, before producing another clinical performance in the 6’s which they won 25-19, 25-17 and 25-20 for the title.

Castrol Strikers took home $40,000 and a trophy.

Port Mourant Training School made up predominantly of Under-19 players currently preparing for the upcoming Inter-Guiana Games triumphed over the Rollers 21-16, 21-16 in the 4’s format, while they prevailed 26-24, 16-25, 25-20 and 25-23 in the 6’s version to grab $20,000 and the winning trophy in the third place playoff.
