Newtown and Alexander Village football teams each came out one goal ahead of their opponents in the Brasimex 7-a-side inter-ward football tournament Saturday night at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground.
Newtown edged Kingston 4-3 in the evening’s opening game which kicked off at 18:00 hrs.
One goal each from Gary Gritter and Jermine Willis along with two from Sherwin McAlmon took Newtown past Kingston, whose goal scorers Selwyn Forde and Leon Grumble netted two goals.
In the feature clash of the night Alexander Village defeated Tiger Bay 2-1 as shots from the boots of Shem Porter and Leon Yaw found the back of the net for Alexander Village, while Rensford Colridge was the lone goal scorer for Tiger Bay.
Meanwhile, Soesdyke ‘B’ and Charlestown gained walkover wins in the other two games scheduled for the night.
