‘Fishy’ Williams carts off feature race

Marlon “Fishy” Williams yesterday won the 35 laps schoolboys’ invitational cycle race of the Powerade and Sprite Cycling programme held at the National Park.
Williams won in one hour, 23 minutes and 52 seconds.

Second place went to Warren McKay while Robin Persaud was third.
Tony Simone, Eric Sankar and Ricky Kissoon occupied the next three places.
In the over 50 category, Lindener Kirkwood Kellman rode away with the race in 13 minutes and 41 seconds.
Second was another Lindener, Lancelot Rose while Harry Lall was third.

Kennard Lovell won the under 50 category in 13 minutes and 46 seconds.
In the 12 – 14 boys and girls three-lap event, Naomi Singh emerged the winner crossing the finishing line ahead of Ricardo Sharma while Golin Debideen was third. Paul DeNobrega won the juveniles 10 laps race in 25 minutes and five seconds.
He also won one of the prime prizes.

Second place finisher Kurt La Rose won the category’s other prime prize.

Ozia McAullay won the five laps upright race.
In the BMX races Keon Harris was the winner of the two-lap, 6 – 9 year-old category while Randy Haynes won the 9 – 12 year-old category.
The 12 – 14 year-old, three lap race went to Hamma Eastman while Darius Ramsammy got second.
Ramsammy came back for a first place take in the three lap open BMX category.

At the end of the races at a brief presentation ceremony the winners were presented with trophies, Powerade and Sprite compliments of Banks DIH.
