Weather ruins selectors’ plans to name CT20 squad

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – Rain has forced the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board to delay naming their squad for next month’s Caribbean Twenty20 Championship.

The West Indies Cricket Board had set a deadline of December 10 for the releasing of all squads but persistent rains scuppered selectors’ plans of trimming down their training squad to the final 14-man unit.

“We have been badly affected by rain and this is why we could not honour the initial deadline,” said chairman of the national selection panel, Dudnath Ramkessoon.

“Instead we are hoping for at least some action early this week so that by Thursday the team will be sent to the WICB.”
Weather permitting, the TTCB have scheduled matches for Wednesday, which will be the only chance for selectors to assess players.
“Our job has been very difficult this year because of the inactivity of the players, so it will really be wonderful to have the guys out there, so we can have a final look,” Ramkessoon said.

T&T’s squad will be depleted this year with the loss of Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard who will be both suiting up in Australia’s Twenty20 Big Bash.

The CT20 is set to run from January 10-23 in Antigua and Barbados.
