Austin, Perkins shine as CCC hit back in warm-up

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, – Combined Campuses and Colleges hit back with a six-wicket win over Barbados in their second warm-up game of the three-match series, in preparation for next month’s Caribbean Twenty20 Championship.

After losing the first game on Tuesday, CCC exacted revenge thanks to strong efforts from off-spinner Ryan Austin and opener William Perkins.

Playing at the 3Ws Oval, Austin grabbed four for 16 as Barbados, opting to bat first, struggled to 100 for nine off their allotted 20 overs.
West Indies all-rounder Kevin Stoute, batting at number four, top scored with 24 from 28 balls, before being the last out.

Rashidi Boucher (18) and West Indies discard Dwayne Smith (16) gave Barbados a solid but slow start of 38 from 46 balls but their dismissals sparked a collapse.

Austin was supported by leg-spinner Nikolai Charles who finished with two for 19.
Perkins, who played one Twenty20 International for West Indies nearly three years ago, then cracked four fours and two sixes in 46 off 40 balls to lead the CCC run chase.

He added 44 off 47 balls with captain Romel Currency (13 not out) for the third wicket to set up the victory, after they lost Miles Bascombe (1) and Martin Nurse (17).

Smith earned two for 20 with his medium pace while speedster Javon Searles took two for 21.
