RHTY&SC Cricket Teams host Christmas Programme

The teams – Rose Hall Town Farfan & Mendes Under-15, Bakewell Under-17 and Second Division, Pepsi Under-19, Gizmos & Gadgets Under-23 and First Division and Metro Females hosted a series of activities as part of their 2010 personal development and charity programmes.

According to a release from the RHTY&SC, the programme was a multi-million dollar event, which comprised a feeding programme that involved 300 less fortunate persons from the township of Rose Hall.

“In addition, three television call-in programmes sponsored by Cellink were also hosted on DTV-8 in New Amsterdam to call children to win special toys. A total of 35 children won and received their prizes on December 23 during a presentation ceremony in New Amsterdam” the release added.

Assistant Secretary of the RHTY&SC, Nermala Sewdat who was only elected to her position a month ago disclosed that the 2010 programme was organised by the teams themselves and thirteen youthful executives who were elected along with her.

The 19-year-old Sewdat described the activities as huge success and stated that the RHTY&SC was pleased to be able to put smiles on the faces of the less fortunate persons during the festive season.According to the release, the total cost of the 2010 programmes was $2.1 M and the Club would like to express gratitude to the following individuals and companies for their contributions – Bermudez, Derek Seetaram, Scotia Bank, Gizmos & Gadgets, banks DIH Ltd, Toucan Industries, Junior Williams, the Gift Center, Bobby’s Boutique, GEB Security, Len’s Optical, Guyana Lottery Company, Cirkel Distributor, S.
