Plantain chip vendor put on bond over silver band use

However, he made monetary restitution in court and was placed on a one-year bond.

According to the charge against Leon Thornhill, between July 15-31,2009 being solely entrusted with one silver band valued $18,000, property of Patrick Simon, in order that same may be kept safe, converted it to his own use and benefit.

Thornhill, 31, of 24 Goedverwagting, East Coast Demerara told the court that he had the band in his wardrobe. In December, Thornhill said, Simon asked him for the band after they had “a lil talking”.

Thornhill speculated that somebody had taken the band earlier and he had promised his friend in January that he would  repay him and had already given him $2,000.

He then told the court that he had the balance to pay Simon and after paying  off the $16,000 balance he was placed on a one-year bond and fined $5,000 court costs.
