The Blind Side for the Sidewalk

Next Tuesday, Sidewalk Café screens The Blind Side the Oscar nominated 2009 drama–sports film starring Quinton Aaron and Sandra Bullock.

Written and directed by John Lee Hancock, the film is based on the 2006 book The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game by Michael Lewis.

It tells the story of Michael Oher (Aaron), an offensive lineman who plays for the Baltimore Ravens of the NFL, who grew up poor, was adopted by Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy (Bullock), and became one of the most highly coveted prospects in college football.

Bullock has already won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress and a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for the film and has received an Academy Award for Best Actress nomination.

The film also stars Tim McGraw as Sean Tuohy and Kathy Bates as Miss Sue, Oher’s tutor and features appearances by several current and former NCAA coaches.

It has earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture.
