Slingers Family hosts three shows for ninth anniversary

One of Guyana’s popular sound systems will celebrate its ninth anniversary next weekend with three big shows around the country with the celebration culminating with a big party in New York.

A release from the Slingers Family, said the sound system will be in Linden, New Amster-dam, Weest Demerara over the Easter weekend; then move to the reggae capital, Jamaica before heading to New York.

On April 3 the people of Linden can prepare for hot energy entertainment when the sound system teams up with Most Wanted Entertainment along with Barbadian Peter Ram and the X Factor dancers and others.

While New Amsterdam can get ready for a similar experience on April 4 and this time Carib Soca Monarch Bonesman and Shelly G will also be on stage.

Joe Viera Park on West Demerara will also come alive on April 5.

“Over the years Slingers anniversary [celebrations] have grown from strength to strength with thousands of dollars in giveaways annually…,” the band said in a release.

And the band promises a surprise to its fans in the form of an international artiste who is expected to perform during the shows but whose identity will remain anonymous until he hits the stage. He is said to be the “lady’s pet and they love him.”

He will be performing at Joe Vieira where admission will be free from 10 am to 5 pm after which patrons will be asked to pay $500 up to 7pm and then $1,000 thereafter.

According to the band awards will this year be presented to fan of the year, dance of the year and a Slingers employee of the year.
