Musicians on stage for June 6

Expect piano, violin, trumpet, sax, pan, solos, duets, choirs, dance and perhaps a bit of theatre. All this and more will be on show come next Sunday, June 6, when the Guyana Music Teachers Association presents its annual concert, ‘Musicians on Stage’.

Billed this year for the Marian Academy Auditorium, Carifesta Avenue, the concert will as usual feature students who sat the examinations of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM).

This year, in addition to those students, the concert will also feature the Parkside Steel Orchestra, the National School of Dance and the St Stanislaus Choir.

Tickets, which cost $800 for adults and $400 for children are available from any member of the Guyana Music Teachers Association and at Dewar’s School of Music, 221 Charlotte Street, Bourda.

At the annual show, trophies and prizes are usually presented to the music pupils who would have passed their ABRSM exams with distinction and merit.
