Technician on unlicensed driving charge

Technician Bransley Kissoon was on Monday placed on bail in the sum of $35,000, after denying charges of driving without a licence and insurance.

Kissoon, appearing before acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, was accused by the police of driving motor vehicle PDD 8942 on December 28, 2010, at Den Heuvel, East Bank Demerara, without a licence. He was also accused of  driving without insurance for third party risk.

He denied both charges.
In giving the facts of the case, Prosecutor Stephen Telford told the court that police were conducting traffic patrols on the day in question and they stopped Kissoon and asked him to produce his documents. According to Telford, he failed to do so and the police then realised that he was an unlicensed and uninsured driver.

Kissoon was subsequently granted $25,000 bail on the charge of driving without insurance and $10,000 for the charge of unlicensed driving.
The  matters were transferred to the Providence Magistrates’ Court, for January 31.
