Ice-pick stabbing accused remanded

A 28-year-old man who unlawfully and maliciously wounded another with intent to disfigure and cause actual bodily harm yesterday appeared before acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

In presenting the facts of the case, the prosecutor told the court that Gregory Anthony and Rondell Haywood had a misunderstanding on January 11.

Anthony, who was allegedly armed with an ice-pick, reportedly dealt Haywood several stabs about his body. The virtual complainant fell to the ground after which he was helped by a few passers-by, transported to and admitted to the hospital. Haywood was not present in court.

The prosecutor objected to bail and Anthony was remanded to prison until January 27.
