Bumbury, 39,  of Agricola was told by the magistrate yesterday that based upon the advice of the DPP the matters against her had been withdrawn.

“Madam, your matters are withdrawn and you are free to go,” Bumbury was told by acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.

The allegation against Letlow and Scotland is that on September 14, 2010 at Georgetown, they received from Rawle Newtown $1.2M and one gold chain valued $266,000 knowing same to be stolen or unlawfully obtained.

The men denied the charge when it was read to them by the acting chief magistrate when they appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

Additionally, Letlow, Scotland and Bumbury along with Michael Newton were charged with receiving, relieving, comforting, assisting and maintaining Rawle Newton, sometime between September 5 and 16 at Georgetown, after he, [Rawle Newton] allegedly murdered Raghubir and Deonarine.

Meanwhile, attorney-at-law Tanya Warren, who represented Letlow and Scotland, made an application for her clients to be admitted to reasonable bail.

Prosecutor Stephen Telford related to the court that the facts are as charged and arose out of the previous particulars but no further details were given.

The prosecution had no objection to the bail application made by the attorney but requested that it be granted in a substantial sum. Further, the prosecution asked that the matter be transferred to the Bartica Magistrates’ Court and an early date be set for the commencement of the preliminary inquiry (PI).

After listening to the case, the magistrate granted the men their pretrial liberty in the sum of $100,000 each and then she adjourned the matter to April 4 for the commencement of the PI.

On September 20 last, Rawle Newton was charged with murdering the two gold dealers at Bartica, allegedly  between September 4 and 5. Further, he was arraigned on two unrelated charges of armed robbery and has been remanded ever since.
