Shotgun used during Jawalla robbery found

A shotgun which was used in a robbery at Jawalla Village, Upper Mazaruni was on Tuesday found by residents during a search for the suspects and handed over to the police.

Police said in a press release on Thursday that a 16-gauge shotgun and one matching cartridge were found in a boat at Jawalla Village around 01 30 hours.

Investigations revealed that three men, two of whom were armed with firearms, went to the home of Barrington Hunter, who raised an alarm. Residents, the police said, responded and gave chase behind the men who escaped.  The firearm was later found by the residents and handed over to the police.

Investigations are continuing.
