Guyanese man arrested in Dublin Airport cocaine bust

A Guyanese man was arrested in connection with a drugs seizure at Dublin Airport today, during which cocaine with a street value of approximately €220,000 was seized.

According to a report on Irish news website The Journal.ie, approximately 3.16 kilogrammes of cocaine were seized in a joint operation between the airport’s Revenue’s Customs Service and the Garda National Immigration Bureau.

The man, said to be a 48-year-old male Guyanese national who had arrived from Sao Paulo, Brazil, was intercepted after arriving at the airport. Investigators then uncovered the drugs, which had been concealed in a false-bottomed suitcase. The man was arrested and handed over to the Ballymun Garda Drug Squad.

He is due to appear in court later today, the report said.
