Turkeyen man charged with Wismar armed robbery

A Turkeyen man arraigned on charges of robbery under arms and unlicensed firearm and ammunition possession was on Friday remanded to prison after appearing before acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.

The allegation against Leon Daniels is that on February 12 at Sun Flower Street, Wismar, Linden, being armed with a gun, he robbed Vacasey Wintz of one gold chain, a cell phone and a quantity of cash valued $248,900, property of the said Wintz.

On February 14 at Blue Berry Hill, Wismar, Linden, Daniels is accused of having in his possession one .38 revolver without licence.

Further on the same day also, he is alleged to have had in his possession three live rounds of .38 ammunition without licence.

The unemployed man denied the three charges when they were read to him at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

Daniels was remanded to prison until February 22. Meanwhile, his matter was transferred to the Christianburg Magistrates’ Court.
