Land of Canaan man died of stomach ulcer

Rishie Persaud, the Land of Canaan, East Bank Demerara man who was on Saturday found dead, a short distance from his home, died as a result of an ulcerated stomach, a post-mortem examination yesterday revealed.

Stabroek News was told that high blood pressure also contributed to Persaud’s death.

Persaud, called ‘Web,’ of Lot 12 Land of Canaan, was found some time before 7 am with blood oozing from both his eye and mouth. The left side of his face was “black and blue.”

A resident of Esau Street, where Persaud was found, had recounted that while on his way to work, he noticed the man lying in the grass.

The resident said that he called out to Persaud but got no answer. It was at this point that it was realised that Persaud was dead and the police were informed.

Stabroek News was also told that Persaud was a heavy drinker and frequented the many liquor shops located on the street he was found.
