Houston guard chopped by co-worker

Doctors are working to save the right hand of a 58-year-old security guard who was attacked by a co-worker with a cutlass this morning.

Jaipaul Surujpaul of 43 Houston, East Bank Demerara was attacked by a fellow worker some time between 7.30 and 8 am on the Houston High Bridge. According to reports both men had just gotten off of work for the day.

While Surujpaul’s attacker is in police custody, doctors had to rush the victim into surgery to try to save his right hand which the doctor told relatives at the Georgetown Public Hospital is being held together by flesh.

The bone of the right wrist the doctor noted was cut through. Surujpaul may also need a blood transfusion since he reportedly lost a lot of blood following the attack. Surujpaul also sustained injuries to his left hand and a fractured skull.
