Holland asks for more time on Suriname invasion question

(De Ware Tijd) THE HAGUE — Dutch Foreign Affairs Minister Uri Rosenthal has again asked the Dutch Lower Chamber for respite in answering questions from SP faction member Harry van Bommel about Holland’s involvement in the military coup of 25 February 1980. As a reason he mentions that “additional archives’’ research” demands more time than initially expected. The archives are located in among others Winschoten and several army divisions. Van Bommel put the questions on 23 November 2010 in relation to an article in de Volkskrant in which ex-Premier Ruud Lubbers and ex-Foreign Affairs Minister Hans van den Broek confirm the Dutch invasion plans in Suriname.
