Jamaica mother in custody after death of twins in fire

(Jamaica Observer) The mother of two toddlers who died in a house fire in Longstan Avenue, Kingston, has been taken into police custody. The police reported that about 10:30 am the twin 2-year-old sisters, Shanoy and Lotoya, were left unattended by their mother in a one-bed room concrete structure when tragedy struck.

Police report that the babies were burnt to death before anyone was able to come to their rescue.

The incident has sparked anger among residents in the area.

Police have since held the mother of the children, 21-year-old Kerry-Ann Watson, for questioning.
