Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport Dr. Frank Anthony yesterday accepted four newly-built chess tables, just outside the ministry’s Main Street location, from the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph (GT&T) Com-pany.
According to the Government Information Agency, Anthony said that the ministry is very passionate about the development of chess in Guyana. He said that the location is ideal since the area is usually “buzzing with activity”. The Minister expressed his gratitude to Yog Mahadeo, GT&T’s Chief Executive Officer who was also present.
The four chess tables are for public use. The game pieces will be kept at the ministry and will be available to anyone interested in playing.
