Canada Caribbean fund invites proposals for disaster risk reduction projects

The Canada Caribbean Disaster Risk Management (CCDRM) Fund will fund disaster risk reduction projects in vulnerable communities preferably within the range of Cdn$25,000 to Cdn$75,000 and organizations are asked to submit proposals.

According to a press release from CCDRM, this is its sixth call for proposals and the deadline for submissions is June 30.

Caribbean-based NGOS, civil society and community-based organisations including, but not limited to youth, women’s, farmers and church groups, service clubs, fisher associations, district disaster management and environmental groups and associations for the aged can submit proposals for projects that range in duration from a few months to a maximum of two years.

“Proposed projects must reduce a disaster risk that is being experienced by a community”; the beneficiary community must consider the reduction of the identified disaster risk to be a priority; the reduction in disaster risk must be achieved by the close of the project and it must be measurable and sustainable, the release said.

Organisations must use the fund’s standard application form which can be downloaded from the CCDRMF webpage on the CDEMA website. The CCDRM said applications submitted in any other format will not be considered.

The release also said the “Guide for Project Submission” and “Frequently Asked Questions” documents can be viewed or downloaded from this webpage.

Applications must be submitted before midnight on June 30; those received after midnight will be viewed under the seventh call for proposals which will open in November. The CCDRM also advises organisations to contact its Fund coordinator Leslie Walling at email address ccdrmf.cancarib@gmail.com for additional information.
