For the sixth consecutive occasion, Carolan Lynch who is accused of killing her Swiss House Cambio dealer husband Farouk Razac was again absent from court when the matter was called on Friday.
The prosecution made a successful request to be granted another date for reports. The court subsequently granted a July 25 adjournment.
When the matter was called on February 2 prosecutor Stephen Telford told the court that efforts by the police to locate the woman continued to be futile, but added that the lawmen would have continued their search to ensure that the accused is found and brought before the court.
A warrant which was issued for Lynch’s arrest by acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry on November 10 last remains effective.
Lynch was previously charged with Razac’s murder in 2007. Magistrate Gordon Gilhuys who at that time was presiding over the matter had ruled that he found no prima facie case against her and the matter was subsequently discharged.
Lynch had been charged in May 2007 after Razac was found dead on the floor of their Eping Avenue, Bel Air home.
There was evidence he had bled through his nose and mouth and his hands were at his neck. An autopsy later confirmed that he had been strangled.
On October 22, 2010 attorney-at-law Nigel Hughes, who is representing the defendant, confirmed that police have re-filed a murder charge against her for the death of Razac, former boss of Swiss House Cambio.
The matter was called before the presiding magistrate at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
