Cops hunting gunman after Albouystown shooting

Police are looking for a gunman who shot a man in the chest, following an argument over money on Monday night.

The wounded man, Meskshaka Brazilio, 24, is a patient of a private medical institution. Crime Chief Seelall Persaud said Brazilio was shot following an argument with another man over money. He also noted that Brazilio is known to the police but did not provide more details.

A police press release said that the shooting occurred at around 6pm at James and Hunter streets, Albouystown, Georgetown. Brazilio, police said, hired a taxi and went to James and Curtis streets, Albouystown, where he and another man became involved in an argument, during which the man armed himself with a firearm.

Brazilio then  re-entered the vehicle, which drove off, while the armed man discharged rounds at the vehicle and damaged the rear windscreen.

He then pursued the motor car on a motor cycle and caught up with the vehicle at James and Hunter streets, Albouystown, where he discharged rounds at Brazilio, hitting him to the chest. He then escaped.

When this newspaper visited Brazilio in hospital, he was standing near his bed.  A relative, who was among several gathered, said that they had no comments to make about the incident.
