GT Academy mauls D-UP Academy 45-1

Queen’s College and the Bishops’ High School recorded wins in the boys U16 division while GT Academy advanced to the next round in the girls section yesterday in the ExxonMobil National School Basketball Festival

. Staged at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Homestretch Avenue, Queen’s College crushed Covent Garden 57-13. Francois Myers recorded 24 points and 19 rebounds, with Owen Hooper supporting with 17 points, and 10 rebounds. Adding 10 points and nine rebounds was Ezekiel Griffith.

 For the losers, Jonathan Giddings tallied seven points and four rebounds. Similarly, the Bishops’ High dismantled West Demerara 43-14. Yaniel Easton led the rout with 15 points and eight assists whilst Keyan Mars assisted with 11 points and 19 rebounds.

In the girls division, GT Academy mauled D-UP Academy 45-1. Kassidy Woolford amassed 29 points, and seven rebounds while Sharay Johnson added eight points, six steals and three assists.

Meanwhile, Queen’s College edged President’s College (A) 10-9. Cianna Barkoye top scored with six points and four rebounds for the victors while Ronessa Romalho scored four points and three rebounds in a losing effort.

Marian Academy brushed aside President’s College (B) 10-3 with Angel Ramjaram leading the way with six points and eight rebounds.
