The police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred at about 0425h. today at Sheriff Street, Georgetown, and which resulted in the death of pedestrian Sewcharran Persaud Ugraj, 34 years of Mon Repos, ECD.
Police say that investigations revealed that the driver of motor car PMM 1094 was allegedly driving at a fast rate when he lost control of the vehicle and struck down the pedestrian who was pronounced DOA at the GPHC.
The driver was tested with the use of the breathalyser and his alcohol content at the time was found to be over the legal limit, the police said. He is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
